When you admire the beauty of a picturesque garden, it's easy to overlook the importance of a trellis.
From beautiful flowers to gorgeous roses to abundant bunches of grapes, the purpose of the trellis is to support climbing plants, which can't stand straight like other plants.
Most of the time, those plants produce abundant fruit - so abundant, in fact, that the very success of that fruit will bend and weaken the plant unless helped by a structure, the trellis.
Without a trellis, the plant will at best reach a fraction of its potential.
With a trellis, the plant will wrap around the trellis, growing and thriving to its full potential.
It’s just this type of thinking that was the theme of our November Future Casting webinar, as Senior Lead Navigator Mike Gammill presented “TRELLIS LEADERSHIP: Structuring Short-term Initiatives to Fuel Your Church’s Long-range Dreams.”
Mike helped church leaders navigate the tension between short-term strategic initiatives that create growth and long-term visionary goals that keep the church focused and aligned around a single daring destination.
